The ‘divas’ will also be launching their “Diva Blend Coffee” which Diva Janet Cram says is, “very eco-friendly.” Cram explains how, “this will be an ongoing fundraiser for us to fund our workshops, community movies and other projects.” The coffee blend is described as being “full-bodied and never bitter.”

The healthy living, healthy planet expo showcases local businesses and organizations that are providing ideas and products to people who are working towards living more sustainably. Cram says: “One of the ways everyone can help the planet is by buying local food and services. This reduces your carbon footprint and secures a reliable, healthier food and supports the community. I encourage everyone to try growing some of their own food if they can.”

Last year over 250 people were drawn to this event. “From their comments, we knew  that people were excited about this fair and hoped we would make it an annual event” says Cram.

According to Cram, “the LEAD mission is that we are ’working toward greening the world one community at a time’. We hope that other LEAD groups will eventually crop up in  other communities and see what they can accomplish together.”

So if you want to sample delicious locally-made treats, learn about the CRD’s green initiatives, find out how you can reduce your garbage to almost nothing, discover a  myriad of green products, discuss gardening tips, find out about  a variety of fitness programs, meet a number of alternative health providers, check the radiation level of your cell phone, and sip some Diva blend coffee while chatting with your neighbours, then you won’t want to miss the Healthy Living, Healthy Planet Expo on Saturday, March 12th, from 12 – 3:00. Admission is free and there will be door prizes.
