New Plan for Cordova Bay Plaza Site: to Council Jan 29
by Roger Stonebanks, citizen reporter
Saanich council will consider at its committee of the whole meeting on Jan. 29 the revised plan for development of the now-closed Cordova Bay Plaza site at the corner of Cordova Bay Road and Doumac Avenue.
The plan – an application for a Development Permit amendment with no change in zoning and no request for variances – is outlined and reviewed extensively in a Saanich Planning report that was posted on Jan. 16. You’ll find the report HERE.
It is proposed (as before) to construct three four-storey buildings with retail on the first floor and a supermarket plus underground parking. Above the shops will be 91 residential units – up from 86 before.
The Saanich Planning report, quoting the Official Community Plan and the Local Area Plan, states that the plan “can be supported.” See “Conclusion” on pages 18 and 19.
