Savory Summer Nights at the Roost

Music duo – Tapestry – John Shaw & Sharon Glynn

Author: Sharon Glynn, Citizen Journalist

Imagine a sweet summer night at the end of a busy day. Relaxing in the garden, enjoying a savory dinner with soft music floating through the air. This outdoor culinary experience is being offered this Summer by The ROOST Bistro, a local favourite in North Saanich.

“The Bistro” is quietly tucked away in an outdoor garden setting beside their popular farm bakery. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings they are featuring local musicians to delight diners from 6 – 8pm.

John DesBiens, Manager and Chef says “We want to offer our patrons the unique experience of dining on locally produced organic food in a natural and relaxed setting. They can see the chickens strutting by, smell food cooking in the wood-burning oven and enjoy fine music with family and friends.”

The ROOST is considered a rural gem, famous for preparing their unique dishes with ingredients produced on their farm. Fruit, veggies, eggs and meat are some of the first things one might notice in the fields nearby. However, it may be a surprise to discover that The Roost even grows their own wheat used in their wood-fired pizza crust. And that glass of wine? Also produced right on the farm.

This summer diners can look forward to musicians including TAPESTRY, a local duo specializing in vocal harmonies, guitar, harmonica and piano. Other performers include Gary Preston playing the blues and Jonathon Sweet playing jazz, blues and rock.
