Here at the very intersection where the protest took place, the Tsawout have leased out their land to the White Spot, the McDonalds, the Esso Station/Tim Hortons and I forget all the other businesses. They are protesting the very thing they have done and are doing and continue to expanding on doing in more and more of their lands. And this business about violating the Douglas Treaty? What? It says absolutely nothing about anything they are claiming. Journalists have to challenge these kinds of claims of treaty violations. What treaty is violated and how? What exact provision? It’s 99% BS if you actually read the treaties and compare it. I suppose this is like asking journalists to read the text of C-45 which just eliminates the DUPLICATION levels of environmental review on the Federal and Provincial level to make it less costly to the taxpayer. Too many people just believe the claims of Elizabeth May without checking. Lots of very low information voters in Central Saanich. It’s a very sad state of affairs.
