Calling All Hearts

Beacon Community Services, in conjunction with the Peninsula News Review, are sponsoring the 15th annual Hearts of the Community Volunteer Awards 2013. The awards are intended to honour the work of Saanich Peninsula Volunteers, based on nominations from the community.
According to Beacon Community Services CEO Isobel McKenzie, “Hearts of the Community Volunteer Awards started 15 years ago, to thank volunteers for all that they do for Peninsula residents. It’s a really heart-warming time, with great entertainment, community spirit, and touching stories that showcase the astonishing breadth and scope of volunteers’ accomplishments on the Peninsula.”
All nominees will be recognized and up to six of the exceptional volunteers will receive a “Hearts of the Community Award” in the following categories: Service to Seniors, Service to Families and Children, Overall Service to the Community, Outstanding Youth Volunteer,Community Service or Project by a Group and Lifetime Service Award.
The nominations closed January 30th, 2013 and the award ceremony will take place on February 21, 2013 at the Mary Winspear at 11am. The awards ceremony and luncheon is open to the public. Free tickets are required for admission.
